Veteran actor Yomi Fash-Lanso has declared unequivocally that he is not a Nollywood actor. Rather, he considers himself a Nigerian actor.
After making this disclosure, he begged fans not to refer to him as a “Nollywood” actor, highlighting his need to be recognised outside of a specific sector.
He went on to say that he views himself as an actor who is committed to the craft of acting rather than as a celebrity.
Despite his successful career, Yomi, who is 55 years old, jokingly said that he is still rising rather than having reached the peak of his abilities, discouraging admirers from calling him a legend.
Yomi humbly acknowledged the esteemed status of his senior colleagues such as Oga Bello, Baba Wande, Jide Kosoko, Antar Laniyan, and RMD, affirming that they rightfully deserve the title of Nollywood legends.
“I’m not a Nollywood actor, I’m a Nigerian actor, not a celebrity, I’m not a legend, I’m just coming up.
“I’m also an entrepreneur, I sell wristwatches, men clothings and all. I dabbled into a lot of things before coming into the film industry per say,” he said.
In other news, Ayodeji Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, is a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer who has clarified that he is not an Afrobeats artist.
The singer cautioned fans not to expect an Afrobeats version of him on the project, even as he announced via his Instagram story on Saturday that his next album was ready.
