Controversial American rapper and producer Kanye West boldly declared that he was responsible for every musical genre that has emerged in the last 20 years.
Kanye West claims to have originated the drill, trap, modern R&B, and basement.
He continued on to say that among his colleagues, Future, Young Thug, Drake, and The Weeknd were all influenced by his taste in music.
He said:
“I created this genre. I created Weeknd’s genre, Trav, Drake. I’m gon’ head and say it with all love Future and Thug also,”
The American rapper received backlash in 2022 after calling President Joe Biden “racist.”
Those who advocate for individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities have attacked him.
The National Down Syndrome Congress’s executive director, Jordan Kough, reportedly told TMZ that it is really sad to see Kanye use the r-word because it is derogatory to all people with disabilities. What’s more, Kough believes Ye is aware of how insulting it is.
According to the NDSC, the r-word dehumanises people with disabilities. and Kough is advising Kanye and other prominent figures to think about the impact of their comments.
Not as many people at the National Disability Rights Network are standing by Kanye. Executive Director Marlene Sallo said that although disability advocates were grateful when Kanye first declared that his bipolar illness was a superpower, they are now incensed because Ye used a “outdated and nasty” phrase.
By demanding an apology from Kanye, the NDRN is taking things a step further.
The musician has already faced criticism for his anti-Semitic remarks from both fans and other celebrities, so this is not the first time he has been called out for offensive remarks.
