The Nigerian musician Anthony Ebuka Victor, best known by his stage name Victony, has talked about his experiences of heartbreak.
Victony, 23, said that his former fiancée had lied to him about being friends with another man when he was much younger.
The “Soweto” hitmaker claimed that the incident “left me mad and I felt stupid” when he finally learned the truth.
“As a young boy. Although, I am still young. But as a younger boy. Heartbreak na heartbreak. There was this babe. That time we still dey grind. Still doing our thing on a low,” he said in a recent interview on the ‘Is This Seat Taken’ podcast.
“You know she was talking to this other guy and I was aware. She was telling me about this other guy. Me, very open-minded, I was like this guy was just her friend.
“She told me he was her friend but his name just always came up. And I will be like which kind of friend is this one?
“At the end of the day, it turned out he was not her friend. That was very mad because when I realised everything that was going on I felt very stupid.”
In addition, he revealed that his tour of North America will begin in August 2024.
Victony became well-known a few years back when he and Mayorkun worked together on the song “Holy Father.”
Tobi Mohammed, a Nigerian music executive, owns the record label Mainland Block Party, where he is now signed.
Victony disclosed in 2023 how the COVID-19 lockup enabled him to transition from hip-hop to Afrobeats.
