I have my outfit, acceptance speech ready for Grammy award – Ayra Starr

Nigerian Afrobeat singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has expressed her enthusiasm and readiness for the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony.

Speaking with Cool FM Lagos in an interview, Ayra Starr shared her excitement about the 66th Grammy Awards, where her hit track ‘Rush’ is nominated for Best African Song Performance.

The artist conveyed that she meticulously planned every aspect of her involvement in the prestigious event, including her attire, walk, and even her acceptance speech.

Responding to OAP Dotun’s inquiry about her readiness, Ayra Starr asserted that she is fully prepared for the Grammy Awards ceremony. As a first-time nominee alongside Nigerian music heavyweights Davido, Asake, Olamide, and South Africa’s Tyla, with Grammy-winner Burna Boy completing the esteemed category, she reiterated her commitment to the event.

When questioned about her post-Grammy plans, Ayra Starr humorously mentioned that she would celebrate by going to her favorite Chinese restaurant and enjoying a meal.

The singer stated that after this, she plans to video call her mother to convey the good news.

“I have my speech. I have everything done already. I already know my walk and my outfit” Ayra said.

Expressing her forward-looking mindset, the singer mentioned that in the event she doesn’t secure a win this year, she has already prepared her attire and acceptance speech for the 2025 edition and the subsequent years.

The 66th Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 5 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, USA, with South African comedian Trevor Noah serving as the esteemed event’s host.
