BBNaija winner, Mercy Eke has vented out, disclosing she has over N100 million in her account with Heritage Bank a few days after CBN revoked the bank’s license.
Eke clarified that she opened the account as a result of Heritage Bank supporting her victory in the fourth season of the reality show Big Brother Naija.
She further claimed that, despite being aware of the bank’s financial problems, her account manager had persuaded her to fix her money there.
Eke wrote on her X account, expressing her anguish:
“I really don’t know how to react about this … I have been hoping for the best .. thinking there’s a way out…. #HeritageBank.”
When a fan inquired if she had an account with Heritage Bank, Eke confirmed:
“I do… and have above 100m with them.” Another fan questioned her decision to open an account with the bank.
Eke replied, “That was the bank that sponsored BBN during my set. For them to pay our money, we were advised to open an account with them… stupid me went ahead and funded the account … don’t worry I’m full of regrets right now.”
A concerned fan asked about her account manager’s response. Eke replied,
“She lured me into fixing my money, knowing fully well there’s been issues with the bank… I don’t have words for her, I blame myself.”
Eke disclosed that she has submitted a notice to the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in an effort to retrieve her money. The NDIC has begun the liquidation process of Heritage Bank, starting with verification and payment of depositors, prioritizing those with N5 million and below.
