I once took Davido’s old clothes as payment for composing his songs – Peruzzi

Nigerian musician Tobechukwu Okoh, better known by his stage name Peruzzi, has disclosed that he was once paid in used clothing for composing songs for Davido.

The artist claimed to have discontinued the payment method after receiving cash money from Davido for his services in a recent conversation on comedian Isbae U’s podcast.

“I swear I am not going to lie, I used to collect clothes before. But there was a particular one I wrote and he gave me some money so I stopped but I used to before,” he said.

Peruzzi is the songwriter responsible for majority of Davido’s chart-topping hits.

The songwriter acknowledged in October 2023 that he was the one who composed “Unavailable” and “Risky” for Davido.

“Unavailable” is a tune from Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless,” and “Risky,” which features Jamaican artist Popcaan, was released in 2019.

“Risky, but what did you expect when I wrote Risky? Let us go to pen game talk, I let my pen game talk even when I am high as f**k, you will not see my pen game drop,” he had said.

“When I wrote ‘Unavailable’ I was still unavailable, I did it though; see the outcome, unbelievable.”

Hit songs including “Pressure,” “Majesty,” “Southy Love,” “Somebody Baby,” and “Things I Need” were all written by Peruzzi.

After being signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in November 2017, the singer began to gain notoriety.

Within the music industry, he’s made a name for himself.

Additionally, he has worked with a number of well-known figures in the nation’s music industry.
