I plan to adopt kids if I’m single at 35 – Selena Gomez

American singer and actress Selena Gomez has stated that if she is still single at the age of 35, she plans to adopt children.

The 31-year-old singer disclosed that her five years of single status prior to beginning a romantic relationship with producer and songwriter Benny Blanco last year had an impact on her decision to adopt.

Selena Gomez talked candidly about her experience embracing her single status and her battle with loneliness in an interview with Time Magazine.

“I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it,” she said.

“A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it. Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”

Selena Gomez confirmed that she was dating Benny Blanco in December 2023.

Selena Gomez had previously discussed her four-year hiatus from social media.

Once the most followed star on Instagram, Selena Gomez just launched Wondermind, a mental health platform. On Monday, she told Good Morning America that she had shunned the internet for more than four years in order to save her mental health.

The actress noted that removing herself from social media had helped her feel “normal” and made tremendous improvement mentally.

“Growing up in the spotlight has definitely taught me so much,” she said, “I can’t believe I am where I am mentally just because of how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that because it’s just not normal.”

“I haven’t been on the internet in four and a half years, it has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”
