Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed plans to buy back his music masters from Sony Music before retiring from the music industry.

Davido made the disclosure during an appearance on The Long Formpodcast, where he described ownership as the most important aspect of any music deal.

Although he noted that his current agreement is a favourable one, the singer said reclaiming ownership of his catalogue remains a key goal.

He explained that controlling his masters would allow him to transfer songs to his children once he retires.

“I have a good music contract. But the most important thing is ownership.

“I plan to get my master’s back.

“With that, I can give each of my kids songs even after I retire,” he said.
