Nigerian singer Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has said he released his latest single to raise money to pay rent for his residence abroad, rather than his home in Lagos.
The singer’s latest release, ‘Comfort,’ is a cross-border Afrobeats and Afro-fusion collaboration featuring Ghanaian singer MOLIY.
Speaking during a recent appearance on Okikidft’s Twitch livestream, Mr Eazi explained that he lives in a neighbourhood inhabited by Formula One personalities, tennis players and footballers.
“I still dey find rent. I wan pay rent, na why I even drop this song. No be my Lagos rent, na for where I dey stay,” he said in pidgin English.
“But where I dey stay na why all the — we give thanks to God, I no believe say I go first stay there — na where all the Formula One, tennis players stay.
“All of us, we are neighbours. So I fit just dey see Pogba… e dey make me like dey… They are very private people.”
His comments come months after the musician-turned-investor spoke about his expanding business portfolio, revealing that one of his companies processes four million financial transactions daily.
He also disclosed that he had invested in businesses operating across 19 African countries.
“In the last four years of my career, I have worked as an entrepreneur, focusing on solving this problem of friction in Africa, which acts as a roadblock to making Africa more borderless,” he said.
“I have invested in businesses that are now operating in 19 African countries. One company I am particularly proud of processes four million transactions daily across these countries.”
Mr Eazi co-founded PawaPay, a fintech startup operating in Africa. He also runs EmPawa Music, a record label, and launched Choplife, a betting company, in 2024.
In 2025, Mr Eazi married Temi, daughter of Nigerian business tycoon Femi Otedola.
