Veteran actor Pete Edochie has recalled how his acting career began at the age of 15 in 1962.
Speaking on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask, Edochie said his first major acting experience was a stage performance of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.

He noted that there were no films like we have today, so actors mainly made their mark on stage.
Edochie, now 79, also reflected on his long career, saying his work earned him recognition beyond Nigeria. He claimed that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer identified him and South African actor John Kani as two of the continent’s notable actors.
He also recalled starring in Things Fall Apart in 1985, years before Living in Bondage was released in 1992 and Nollywood emerged.
