‘I still visit movie locations despite my age’ – 101-year-old actor Baba Agbako

The legendary actor Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, who was fondly referred to as Charles Olumo and Baba Agbako, claims that even at his advanced age, he still visits filming locations.

The 101-year-old movie star spoke about his decades-long career in an interview with Kunle Afod, another actor.

When Afod questioned Agbako if he still went to movie locations, he replied in the affirmative. He stood up from his chair to jog and leap in an attempt to demonstrate his claim that he is still agile at his age.

“I still go to movie locations, in fact, I still have a location I am going to,” he said.

Baba Agbako has a four-decade career and has become a household figure, particularly in the Yoruba film industry.

The movie star was born in Abeokuta, Ogun state, on February 19, 1923. Prior to entering the acting profession, he held jobs as an amateur boxer and a mechanic.

In 1953, he began performing professionally at the Apostolic Church in Mushin, Lagos state. He then went on to instruct theatrical groups from other churches.

Agbako eventually joined Nollywood and is well known for his action and scary persona roles in Yoruba films.

He has featured in a plethora of movies such as: ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Jagun’, ‘Amin Orun’, ‘Aiye’, ‘Jayesinmi’, ‘Soworo Ide’, and ‘Igbo Dudu’.
