Folarin Falana, a Nigerian rapper, singer, and actor better known by his stage name Falz, has spoken about juggling two significant occupations at one point in his life.
The multifaceted singer revealed that he used to work as a lawyer during the day and be a rapper at night.
This was revealed by the 34-year-old as he described leading a second life while practicing law.
The rapper talked about the difficulties, saying that juggling his two careers was not simple.
Falz clarified that there was a legal regulation that forbade solicitors from doing other things while practicing law in an episode of Madam Joyce’s show, a podcast hosted in the United Kingdom. In his own words:
“There was a time I was in court, and living a double life at the time as well. Lawyer by day, rapper by night.
“So when I announced my appearance ‘With profound respect my lord, the name is Folarin Falana, appearing for the plaintiff’ and the judge lowered his glasses and said ‘counsel, are you not the one doing something else on the side?’
“There is an unspoken rule of professional conduct within the legal practice where you are not supposed to do other things.”
