I’m only artist that prevents people from spraying me – Seun Kuti

Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti asserts that he is the only performer in Nigeria who, when on stage, prevents fans from throwing cash at him.

Additionally, he asserted that many performers, particularly fuji musicians, sing praises to audiences in tunes only to get the opportunity to spray them.

In light of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) campaign against those who misuse Naira, Kuti made the allegations.

Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram account, he said:

“I don’t even like to be sprayed. I’m the only artist that stops people from spraying me. Even my dad, the legendary Fela didn’t prevent people from spraying him but he demanded the denominations he wanted to be sprayed.

“Nobody wey Sunny Ade never sing for so he can be sprayed. Everybody name. KWAM 1 … eh eh. It is the politicians that made spraying a standard behaviour.”

In a different story, Seun Kuti sparked controversy once more by calling Kanye West a “dangerous person to all Africans” in a recent Instagram story.

The Nigerian artist did not provide specific details to support his claim, leaving followers curious about the basis of his assertion.

This is not the first time Seun Kuti has voiced his disapproval of Kanye West.

In 2018, he took issue with the American rapper’s comments about Fela Kuti, Seun’s father and a legendary Nigerian musician.

Kanye West had claimed on Instagram that he was the best artist on the planet because the spirits of Fela, Nelson Mandela, and Tupac lived through him.

Disagreeing strongly. Seun Kuti responded on his own Instagram account, thereby making it clear that he was not convinced Fela’s spirit resonated with Kanye West.

Now that Seun Kuti has suggested that Kanye West is a menace to all Africans, this debate appears to have developed into a more widespread worry.
