A gospel artist Mr. Chinekezi Ezinwa commonly referred to as Mr. Zico has called on government at all tiers, corporate organisations and private individuals to invest more in the music industry as a lot is yet to be tapped from the sector.
He claims that the music business, particularly that of gospel music, is frequently scorned and ignored.
Speaking during an annual praise & worship concert organised to mark his birthday, Mr. Zico who is also an online television host said government and well meaning Nigerians should come out to encourage Nigeria gospel music artistes by supporting them to organise events and concerts to further grow the industry.
In his words: “Government at all level including private individuals or organisations can encourage gospel musicians by organising gospel concerts. I believe if government should come into such, by virtue of what the masses hear, crime rate and other vices in the country will reduce. As people will embrace God because if people especially our youths attends where they smoke weed, drink alcohol and at the end of the day when they get drunk they will begin to commit all sorts of evil in the society”.
On his new song ‘Onye Obi Oma’ which also serves as the theme of the musical concert translated in English as ‘The One With Good Heart’, Zico said he got the inspiration from psalm 145:8-9 where the Bible talks about God’s mercy and compassion upon His people.
According to him, Solid Praise is a gospel music concert and it also doubles as my birthday celebration. This is the way I choose to celebrate my birthday instead of going to eatery and such, I gather gospel musicians including some of my friends in Nollywood under one roof and sing praises to God”
“On the theme, ‘I believe my God deserves solid praise because sleeping and waking up is one of the best and biggest miracle and testimony given to us by God.
Also each year I do a song as the Holy Spirit leads and the title of that song would be the theme of solid praise for that year. The first edition I did a theme: “Jayamma where I featured Buchi, the second one was ‘You are Mighty’ and this year I am doing ‘Onye Obi Oma’ taken from psalm 145:8-9.
Onye Obi Oma’ is all about all that I have been through and how God has been faithful to me despite all lifes challenges and I have come to praise Him in my dialect meaning the One with a benevolent hear”.
The event which was held at Ogba, Lagos, witnessed the presence of some of ; Buchi, Righteousman, Pupa Orits Williki, Alex O, Minister Thompson, MM Sax and others.
