The American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish recently opened up about her sexuality.
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, the 22-year-old disclosed that she has always been drawn to women. She said that she’s prepared to accept it wholeheartedly.
“I have been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just did not understand — until, last year, I realised I wanted my face in a vagina,” she said.
Eilish said it took her time to accept this aspect of herself and criticised the pressure from the internet to disclose one’s sexuality.
She added that it is important to allow individuals to define their identity at their own pace.
“I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years,” she added.
“I have known people that do not know their sexuality, or feel comfortable with it, until they are in their forties, fifties, sixties. It takes a while to find yourself, and I think it is really unfair, the way that the internet bullies you into talking about who you are and what you are.”
2015 saw Eilish’s career take off with her brother Finneas O’Connell co-writing her breakthrough single, “Ocean Eyes.”
With five trophies, she had a huge Grammy victory in 2020.
In addition, she has won awards from Guinness World Records, American Music Awards, and Golden Globes.
