‘I’ve done four surgeries’ – Victony opens up on health struggle after accident

The Nigerian artist Anthony Ebuka Victor, best known by his stage name Victony, claims that since his car accident, he has had four surgeries.

The “Soweto” hitmaker was involved in a horrific accident in April 2021 that resulted in one death and three injuries.

In the same year, the singer had his first operation.

During a recent podcast interview, Victony discussed his health issues after the accident.

After the event that nearly took his life, the musician says he has had four operations and is still in the healing process.

Victory declared he will perform one more surgery following his tour of North America, which he had previously stated.

He also disclosed that before to going on stage, he takes painkillers.

“Honestly, I am blessed and the whole world can see. I’m still in the recovery phase but I’m still able to do this now. I’m about to go on tour,” he said.

“Thinking about last year, even up until recently, I’ve done four surgeries and after the tour, I am still going to do one more.

“But it’s still a blessing. Going to the hospital and seeing other people there but I go in and out and do my thing.

“I take pain relievers before I go on stage and I still record. I feel blessed and I thank God for his grace, it’s not by power. I’m not his favourite child so I don’t know why he is blessing me.”

Victony rose to fame a few years ago after collaborating with Mayorkun for ‘Holy Father’.

He is signed to Mainland Block Party, a record label owned by the Nigerian music executive Tobi Mohammed.

In February 2023, the singer announced he would be taking a two-month break from music after undergoing his third surgery.

He had also described his accident as a “blessing in disguise”.
