Nigerian hip hop heavyweights are apparently not letting their guards down as they make impressive appearances on the 2024 Grammy Awards nomination list.

Davido, Asake (and Olamide), Ayra Starr and Burna Boy were nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.

The nominations are: “Amapiano,” ASAKE & Olamide; “City Boys,” Burna Boy; “UNAVAILABLE,” Davido feat. Musa Keys; “Rush,” Ayra Starr, and “Water,” Tyla.

The nominees for the 66th award ceremony were announced on Friday evening.

Davido, who is getting his first-ever nomination for the prestigious award, earned three categories, including ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest album, ‘Timeless’.

Others are ‘Best African Performance’ for his song “Unavailable’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for his track ‘Feel’.

Apparently elated with the announcement, Davido took to his X handle and tweeted, “3 nominations at the Grammys!! Delay is not Denial!! ??.”

Burna Boy, who is not new to winning the prestigious, was nominated in four categories.
