The Kannywood film industry is in mourning after legendary actress Saratu Gidado, well known as Daso, passed away suddenly at the age of 56.
Close family members of the late actress confirmed the devastating news to Freedom Radio, revealing that Daso was discovered dead on Tuesday morning, leaving her friends, family, and fans shocked by the unexpected death.
According to family members, Daso was discovered deceased after returning to bed following Sahur, the pre-dawn meal consumed before fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
Daso was born in Kano on January 17, 1968, rose to prominence in the Kannywood business, making an unforgettable impact with her exceptional performances, notably in comedic roles where she played aggressive and naughty characters.
Her cinematic career commenced in 2000 with the Sarauniya Pictures-produced picture “Linzami Da Wuta.” From then on, Daso quickly won over viewers’ hearts with her extraordinary talent and adaptability, solidifying her place in the hearts of Hausa-speaking admirers and others.
Among her notable films that propelled her to stardom are “Nagari,” “Gidauniya,” “Mashi,” and “Sansani,” where her vibrant presence and impeccable acting skills shone through, solidifying her status as a beloved figure in Kannywood.
