Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has openly offered single mothers guidance based on her own development and experiences.
Dikeh responded to a message from another single mother on Instagram, asking for advice on how to handle the difficulties of parenting after a divorce.
A woman asked Dikeh how she handled it when her ex-husband abandoned her and their child, expressing sentiments of inadequacy.
Seeking counsel, the woman identified herself as “a nobody aiming to be somebody soon.”
In her response, Dikeh clarified that she was the one who chose to leave her marriage for the sake of herself and her child, calling it the “best decision” she ever made.
She emphasized the importance of self-investment and personal growth, encouraging the woman to prioritize her well-being and that of her child while seeking God’s guidance.
Dikeh’s response read:
“Good morning, First and foremost, I was the one who chose to walk away from my marriage, not the other way around. I needed to escape a difficult situation, not just for my sake, but for my child as well. Best decision I ever made. Remember, you have the power to become the person you aspire to be, as long as you commit to your growth and invest in yourself. Prioritize the well-being of your children while seeking guidance and strength from God. Sometimes the end of the road is the beginning of your blessings, but please, if your marriage is worth it, fight for your home. Take care.”
In a follow-up Instagram post, Dikeh shared a broader message to single mothers, acknowledging that she does not have all the answers but draws strength from love and faith.
She wrote:
“Dear single mothers, I don’t have a manual for these things. I am neither a pro in this movement. My biggest teacher has been LOVE. I just let God do his thing, and his thing is enough for me. Draw strength from God, and most especially keep your family matters private.”
