The Nigerian actor Dele Odule, popular in the Yoruba film industry, opened up about the most painful experience of his life.

Odule revealed in an interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod that the day he lost his first child was the most depressing day of his life.

The 63-year-old actor said that the circumstances surrounding the child’s birth made the moment he learnt the news “very hard” for him.

Odule said he accepts it as God’s plan and prays that a catastrophe like this won’t happen again, even though he did not reveal the specifics.

“The saddest moment in my life was when I was told my first child died. It was very hard on me,” he said.

“It was hard because of the situation surrounding the child’s birth. It was very hard on me but no one can question the authority of God. It was so bad and I do not pray for such anymore.”

Odule also spoke about his family and career. He revealed that his children have a natural talent for the arts, with one showing potential in acting and another having a talent for singing.

He, however, emphasized the importance of education, stating that he would not allow his children to pursue acting until they have completed their studies and become independent.

“My children are naturally artistic. One of them has a talent for singing, while another shows potential in acting. However, I’ve made my passion for education clear to them, so they are currently more focused on their studies,” he said.

“I’m not sure if they may want to pursue acting in the future, but for now, I would not allow it. If any of them decides to act, it will have to wait until they have completed their education and become independent.”

Odule’s career in the entertainment industry spans over three decades. He began acting in a drama group called Oloko Theatre Group under the mentorship of Mukaila Adebisi.
