Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has described the loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, as a life-changing tragedy.
Recall that Davido and his wife, Chioma, lost their three-year-old son in October 2022 after he drowned in a swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island residence in Lagos State.
In a recent interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, Davido said the experience profoundly altered his outlook on life and his music career.
He also said he was proud about how him and Chioma handled the loss and were able to bounce back.
The music star revealed that their strength has become a source of inspiration for many, recounting how people approached him on several occasions to appreciate him for inspiring them to be strong in hard times.
“Stepping away after losing my son and being able to look back into my career, gave me a refocus of how I wanted to move going forward. It changed my life.
“I know how many who randomly come to me at the airport to tell me how my strength has inspired them in hard times. I was telling me wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back. Now, we got twins. They are big and shouting everywhere. For us to be able to go through the lost of our son and be able to bounce back in a major way is huge,” Davido said.
