Nollywood veteran, Kareem Adepoju, popularly called ‘Baba Wande’ on Tuesday made a public appeal to President Bola Tinubu following the increase in the pump prices of Petrol, known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), from 488 to 617 naira per litre.

The new fuel price regime was confirmed by Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Following the development, Baba Wande, in video making the rounds, pleaded with Tinubu to reduce the pump price of petrol.

In the clip, he highlighted the widespread suffering among many people who are barely able to afford a proper meal.

Baba Wande expressed concerns about the substantial impact of the petrol price, leading to widespread suffering among the masses, exacerbating food shortages, and contributing to high rates of unemployment among graduates.

According to him, the Yorubas have achieved a significant milestone by attaining the highest position in the country. He compares Tinubu’s achievement to the attempts made by figures like Awolowo and MKO, who, in the past, were not successful in reaching this position.

Baba Wande urged Tinubu to use his position and influence to address the issue of high petrol prices and requests him to take action to lower them for the benefit of the people.

He said; “Yoruba people have successfully attained the highest position of the country, since awolowo and MKO tried to do that but they didn’t allow them, tinubu has done it now, he should pls bring down the price of petrol”.

The masses are suffering, this fuel situation is a big problem, alot of people cannot drive their cars anymore, market prices have skyrocketed, no food, graduates have no job”
