As the celebrations for International Women’s Day wind down, Mavin Records, a leading entertainment firm, gathered over 50 women from the entertainment industry to its first-ever Mavin Women’s Day Soiree.
The Ebonylife Place on Victoria Island, Lagos, hosted an evening of chat, wine, music, and networking.
Speaking on what inspired the event, the company’s Director of Operations, Jennifer Imion, said, “Today is important because the person sitting behind you right now is proof that there is really nothing women cannot do. That person, like you, deserves to be celebrated.”
She added that Mavin Records is aimed to further ingrain its philosophy of gender equality in the entertainment industry while encouraging the women making a difference in the sector.
The label’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Emmanuella Nnadozie, said, “This is an avenue for fun and learning. We can add a bit more to one another by coming together and sharing knowledge. We are also building a network that will help facilitate the changes we want in how women are viewed in the workplace.”
The event, which was hosted by Lady Kofo, also had a panelist session with Ifeyinwa Anyadiegwu, Stephney Bassey and Bolanle Banwo discussing the future of work in the entertainment industry. There were also performances by Mavin Records’ Magixx and Ladipoe.
