Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, has withdrawn from the Miss Universe pageant due to health issues.

On Friday, the Miss South Africa organisation took to Instagram to announce Mia’s withdrawal from the competition.

They did not, however, provide any particular information regarding her medical conditions.

“It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia Le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns,” they wrote.

In a statement, Mia expressed her gratitude to the South African public and described the decision as “incredibly challenging”.

She added that focusing on her health would enable her to serve her country better.

“I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe,” Mia added.

“Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me.

“However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”

Mia’s exit comes a few days after Italy Mora, Miss Panama, was removed from the competition for allegedly joining Juan Abadía, her boyfriend, in his hotel room in Mexico without permission from organisers.

The 2024 Miss Universe pageant will be held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 16.
