The Lagos State Police Command has debunked reports claiming that Afro singer Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, was re-arrested in connection to the death of his friend and colleague, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

Earlier reports suggested that Primeboy was re-arrested on Tuesday while visiting the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba.

Primeboy, initially detained amid the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death a few months ago, has been regularly visiting the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) every week throughout the ongoing investigation.

A report which went viral on Tuesday alleged that he was re-arrested and detained by the Lagos police command during his Tuesday visit. The source claimed:

“Both of them had gone to register their presence at SCID this morning (Tuesday) as they have been asked to report every week. But when they got there, Primeboy was immediately handcuffed and detained. They allowed only Spending to go after he had signed. Primeboy has been locked up as I speak.”

However, when reached on Wednesday, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, refuted the claim, stating that the report was inaccurate. He informed Daily Post that the singer was permitted to return home on Tuesday with the expectation of reporting back on Wednesday (today).

In a chat, the PPRO simply said the report is “False. He was allowed to go home and report back today.”

Also, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, submitted an application in January with the coroner court located in the state’s Ikorodu district, requesting the ability to call further witnesses in an attempt to determine the reason behind his son’s demise.

Primeboy, Spending, and Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha, are among the witnesses who have been called to testify in court. It is claimed that these individuals were there with the dead at the relevant time.
