MultiChoice Nigeria has confirmed the date for the announcement of nominees for the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
In a recent Instagram post, the organisers disclosed that the nominees will be revealed on March 29, 2026, with award-winning actor Chimezie Imo set to host the announcement.
“The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees. Watch the #AMVCA12 Nominee Announcement LIVE |March 29 | 7PM WAT on #AfricaMagic channels,” the post reads.
Earlier in January, entries were opened for the 12th edition of the awards, with submissions accepted between January 11 and February 15 from filmmakers and content creators across Africa.
MultiChoice noted that the upcoming edition will continue to celebrate outstanding African storytelling while showcasing the industry’s growth, creativity, and global potential.
The organisers also revealed that the 2026 edition will be headlined by Don Julio as lead sponsor, describing the partnership as part of the awards’ evolution into a premium cultural platform promoting African creativity and craftsmanship.
Additionally, the ceremony will introduce new categories to broaden its indigenous language recognition. In total, there will be 32 award categories, including 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted categories, two lifetime achievement honours, and one trailblazer award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos in May 2026, with more details expected in the coming months.
