Famous Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has disclosed that he was threatened with disownment by his father and senior colleague, the legendary Adebayo Salami, well known as Oga Bello.
Femi Adebayo recently had a heart-to-heart with comedian Gbenga Adeyinka on his talk programme, “Gisting With The GCON.” He began by looking back nostalgically at his early aspirations of becoming a lawyer, a goal he said his father fully supported.
He recalled how his first attempt at acting was only a pastime, something to experiment with for fun, but that was before the allure of Nollywood pulled him into the spotlight he had only ever dabbled in.
Femi Adebayo claimed that the lavish attention and celebrity he and his father, Oga Bello, received inspired him to take a deep dive into the entertainment industry.
The director of Jagun Jagun couldn’t resist waxing poetic about his father, calling him an amazing man whose qualities are so great that he hopes to be his son in a thousand reincarnations.
Femi’s respect for his father goes beyond his career and into his personal life, where he expressed gratitude to Oga Bello for running a harmonious polygamous household—a rare quality in these kinds of families.
However, Femi didn’t shy away from revealing the stern side of his father. He recounted a dramatic moment when Oga Bello issued an unequivocal ultimatum: any son of his who dared to marry more than one wife would face immediate disownment.
