Singer Olawale Oloforo, commonly known as Brymo, has revealed personal and sensitive information about his family’s history.

Brymo talked about his mother’s experiences and the circumstances surrounding his birth in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo.

He revealed that his mother was seeking treatment at several spiritual centres without realising she was expecting a child after going through a traumatic event as a teenager.

Brymo said that he is greatly inspired by his mother’s bravery and resilience in sharing her story. He characterises his family’s history as being enigmatic and complicated.

In his words:

“The story surrounding my birth and the entire family is weird. There are always mysteries.

“There is a story of my mum, she had a traumatic experience, a sexual experience as a teenage girl. It was a r@pe incident. And for some weird reasons, she didn’t see her period anymore afterwards. And that kept on like that for three years or so till she met my dad.

“While they were taking her round herbalists and doctors, and pastors and imams, wherever they could go, so she could start bleeding, a woman needed to see her period before she could get pregnant, well, it happened that she was already pregnant, five months in and there was no blood. So, that was strange right? I had to kick for her to know that a child was there.

“While everyone was giving her medicine to drink, they were trying to force an abortion without knowing [laughs].”

In another story, Brymo accuses Burnaboy of sending boys to beat him up, claims 2face and Davido are accomplices.

He reckons that Burna Boy’s “Big 7” track and a video of Davido flaunting people decked out in sevens are more than mere coincidences, insinuating that they’re somehow connected to the attack.
