British-Nigerian Rapper and musician Darkoo has spoken about her experience telling her parents about her sexuality.

In a recent episode of Layo’s podcast, “The Appointment Show,” Darkoo talked about how speaking up to her mother made her feel happy and relieved.

Darkoo called the revelation of her sexual orientation to her mother a “huge weight off my shoulder.” She said that the talk had been difficult, especially since she was talking to her mum, with whom she is closer.

But in the end, she stressed, she is leading an authentic life.

She said:

“The day I told my mom [about my sexuality], it felt like a massive weight off my shoulder… I’ve been happy since then.

“Opening up to my mom and dad was a great relief. It was hard on my mom more than my dad because I’m closer to her. It was very emotional for my mom.

“My dad was not really interested in the conversation but at the end of the day, I’m living my life. And that’s what I’m doing.”

In another story, Darkoo revealed that she never wanted to be a musician.

In a recent podcast interview, Darkoo disclosed that music was not her initial passion, and she actually had her heart set on becoming a professional footballer.

She explained that her love for football was evident, and many people have witnessed her skills on the pitch. However, a sudden health scare forced her to reconsider her career choice.

“Music was never the plan. I wanted to be a footballer. A lot of people have not seen me on the pitch because I don’t play football anymore. The last time I played football I fainted because it was a lot of exercise,” she said.
