‘Never put your mouth in elections again,’ VDM warns Davido after Gov Adeleke backs Tinubu’s re-election bid

Social media critic VeryDarkMan has warned Nigerian singer Davido against commenting on Nigerian politics following his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, expressing support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The controversy followed Tinubu’s appointment of Adeleke as the Osun State Coordinator of his 2027 presidential re-election campaign council. The move attracted political attention because Adeleke belongs to the Accord Party, rather than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Adeleke also drew attention at the inauguration of Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council at the Aso Rock Villa, where he danced to Davido’s hit song, “Feel,” entertaining guests with his signature moves.

In a video circulating online, VeryDarkMan criticised Davido, accusing him of using his influence to encourage people to support his uncle during the Osun governorship election while previously speaking against the APC.

The critic cited some of Davido’s previous posts on X, formerly Twitter, in which the singer opposed the APC and criticised people supporting the party in Osun State.

VeryDarkMan questioned the consistency of Davido’s political stance following Adeleke’s appointment to coordinate Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the state.

In his words, “It was APC against APC, but at that time, when his uncle was claiming Accord Party, people did not know that Governor Adeleke was actually APC. I was not buying all of these tweets; it was gullible Nigerians that were buying it.”

He further argued that Adeleke’s new role in Tinubu’s campaign could make it difficult for Davido to criticise the president or the APC publicly without creating tension with his uncle.

“Your uncle is now APC coordinator in Osun State, and he must deliver Osun. That means that you can’t talk against your uncle,” VeryDarkMan said.

The critic also referred to Davido’s earlier posts about the APC during the Osun governorship election, including comments questioning why people continued to support the party despite their economic difficulties.

One of the posts cited by VeryDarkMan read, “U dey support APC because of stanship and u dey suffer, makes it sense?”

Another stated, “I can never support APC in my life,” while a separate post read, “Anybody supporting APC in Osun State is an enemy of progress, lessons will be learn this weekend.”

VeryDarkMan subsequently warned Davido to stay away from Nigerian politics, threatening to criticise him further if he continued making political comments.

“Davido, henceforth, I don’t want to see you talking about Nigerian politics again because you’re a user and a hypocrite. You used your fans. Stay out of Nigerian politics, because if you don’t, I will come for you, finish you and expose you completely,” he said.

He also questioned Davido’s contribution to the development of Osun State, arguing that the singer could have leveraged his influence and connections to attract investors, jobs and infrastructure projects to the state.

“You don’t care about the people of Osun or Nigerians. It’s all about your selfish agenda and interests. That’s why your uncle has done nothing since becoming governor of Osun State. No infrastructure, no employment, nothing! With your influence and exposure, one would have expected you to help attract investors, development and other opportunities to Osun State,” VeryDarkMan added.

The video has sparked discussions on social media, with the critic’s remarks drawing attention to debates about celebrity influence, political loyalty and public accountability ahead of the 2027 general election.
