Award-winning singer and composer Lekan Osifeso Junior, often known as Lojay, has stated that, contrary to popular belief, persons from wealthy homes do not have an advantage in the music industry.
According to him, Nigerians like making fun of the wealthy, which makes it harder for those from wealthy families to succeed in the country’s music industry.
The “Monalisa” crooner claimed to be an exception in a recent interview with City 105.1 FM in Lagos, saying that his talent is indisputable even though he comes from a wealthy family.
“Nigerians like rich-shaming. It’s not limited to just the music industry. Once they feel like you have an edge… It’s funny because rich kids don’t have an edge. If anything, they come into the music industry on the back foot because people feel they are already rich and don’t deserve much support,” he said.
The Interviewer asked: “Did you ever experience that?”
Lojay replied: “I’m undeniably talented. They can’t try that with me. Let them challenge me on the mic.
