Nigeria’s Chimamanda listed in Meghan’s ‘Forces for Change’ British Vogue list
Award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie has been featured in Meghan Markle’s ‘Forces for Change’ list for British Vogue cover.
The Duchess of Sussex selected 15 women she considers strong proponents for change for the upcoming September edition of the magazine which she co-edited.
Meghan reportedly spent seven months working with British Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful, on the issue.
The duchess stated that she was steering the focus of the September issue usually the year’s most-read, to “the values, causes and people making impact in the world today.”
Markle said: “Through this lens I hope you’ll feel the strength of the collective in the diverse selection of women chosen for the cover as well as the team of support I called upon within the issue to help bring this to light.
“I hope readers feel as inspired as I do, by the ‘Forces for Change’ they’ll find within these pages.”
The list also includes teenage climate change campaigner, Greta Thunberg; New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Arden; boxer Ramla Ali, and actress and women’s rights advocate, Salma Pinault.
Chimamanda’s work has been translated into over thirty languages and has appeared in various publications, including The New Yorker, Granta, The O. Henry Prize Stories, the Financial Times, and Zoetrope. She is the author of the novels Purple Hibiscus, which won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award; Half of a Yellow Sun, which won the Orange Prize and was a National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist and a New York Times Notable Book; and Americanah, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award and was named one of The New York Times Top Ten Best Books of 2013.
