Nollywood veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, turned 61 on Wednesday

The actor shared photos of himself on Instagram at midnight. In the caption, he expressed gratitude to family, friends, business partners, and to “the hands in the creative industry that have given me so much joy and opportunities to shoot my shot!”.

“This is 61 and counting! Super grateful and thankful for God’s grace upon my life. Birthdays are a chance to look back and forward and all I see is God’s grace upon the life of this shy Warri boy that said yes to life,” the rest of his message read.

In an acting career spanning more than forty decades, Mofe-Damijo has picked up a number of honours and starred in many movies. In 2005, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2016.

Some films he featured in recently include “King of Boys: The Return of the King”, “Fine Wine”, and “Love Is War”.

He was also a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State from 2009 to 2015.

Mofe-Damijo was married to journalist/publisher and talk show host May Ellen ‘MEE’ Ezekiel. After her death in 1996, he remarried TV personality, Jumobi Adegbesan, who later left TV presenting for the corporate world.

Mofe-Damijo has five children: two with his current wife and three from his previous marriage.
