Ogun Gov Dapo Abiodun hosts Actor Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe

Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has expressed his support for the upcoming film ‘Lisabi’, which will be released on Netflix soon.

On Wednesday night, during the visit of actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji and his wife, actress Bimpe Oyebade, Abiodun emphasised the value of using films to teach the next generation about the sacrifices made by past heroes.

Adedimeji’s effort was applauded by Abiodun, who said that showing historical people like Lisabi on a large screen will increase the youth’s understanding of their accomplishments.

Additionally, he urged theatre professionals everywhere to embrace their responsibility for conserving and disseminating the country’s rich past.

In an interview following the meeting, Adedimeji expressed his gratitude for the governor’s support and discussed his plans for a film village and resort center in Abeokuta, near Ogun State Television.

He emphasized that his vision includes filming stories about Ogun State’s heroes within the state itself.

Adedimeji Lateef said:

“We are here because Ogun is my home, and Lisabi Agbogbon Akala is a story about one of our heroes. Since the film is set to debut on Netflix on September 27th, we felt it was essential to premiere it in Ogun State, where the story originated,”

He also shared his aspirations for developing a film village in Ogun State, which he believes will attract filmmakers and audiences to the region. Adedimeji added:

“We are building our own film village in Ogun State, and we hope to gain government support to further develop this project.

This initiative will bring entertainment to Ogun, showcase our local stories, and create opportunities for the community,”
