The Ogun State Government has cautioned hip-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, against his habit of assaulting government officials without provocation.
Portable, known for his controversial nature since his breakout song Zazuu Zeh, has been involved in multiple public altercations, from disputes with his baby mothers and show promoters to run-ins with the police.
In a statement on Friday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, condemned the Wednesday attack on state Planning and Development Permit Authority officials by individuals allegedly acting under Portable’s instruction.
The incident reportedly took place in the Iyana-Ilogbo area of the state, where the musician’s bar is located.
“We are profoundly taken aback by the unpleasant and uncivil act of Habeeb Okikiola (Portable) on Wednesday at Iyana-Ilogbo, Ogun State,” the statement read.
“The manner in which Portable and a group of miscreants he employed attacked government officials is not only appalling but also a disgrace to the state and a confirmation of the erosion of Omoluabi ethos in those involved.”
Akinmade described the attack as unacceptable and barbaric, warning that such lawlessness would not be tolerated and would be dealt with under the full weight of the law.
He reaffirmed the Dapo Abiodun administration’s commitment to maintaining order, upholding the values of decency, and enforcing the rule of law.
“The Governor totally condemns this primitive and indecent act and remains committed to a just society where no individual—regardless of social status or influence—is above the law.”
