Rapper Olamide has responded to the backlash over his recent statement placing Wizkid as the leading Afrobeats artist after Fela Kuti.

The controversy started after Olamide shared the opinion during a press briefing in Toronto, Canada.

He admitted that people will always have different viewpoints and noted that the music industry is big enough for every artist to succeed.

Olamide also stressed that fans can uplift their favourite musicians without downplaying the achievements of others.

He wrote: “Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose – there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone”.

He further pointed out that top stars like Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid remain focused on their work and don’t get bothered by public opinions.

“However, one thing to remember is that Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion or perspective. That’s part of why they’ve reached where they are today,” Olamide added, encouraging fans to accept diverse opinions respectfully.
