Family members have arrived for the continuation of the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad‘s death at the Ikorodu magistrate court.
The singer’s cause of death is being investigated as part of the inquest, which got underway on September 29, 2023.
On September 12, 2023, Mohbad died suddenly under strange circumstances. The day after, he was buried.
His body was excavated on September 21 for an autopsy at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), and the results showed nothing noteworthy that would have contributed to his demise.
Photos shared on social media captured Mohbad’s family members, including his parents, Joseph and Abosede Aloba, arriving at the court separately to attend the resumed proceedings.
Mohbad’s family, who were not happy with the autopsy results, rejected them and demanded an independent investigation.
According to Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba legal team, a more thorough two-part autopsy is currently underway, with the first phase having been completed and the second phase focussing on toxicology and histology tests.
Yomi Fabiyi, accompanied by a group of supporters, staged a peaceful protest outside the courthouse, urging the authorities to ensure that justice is served for the late singer.
Fabiyi, a vocal supporter of transparency in the entertainment industry, carried placards demanding accountability and clarity on the case.
Naira Marley and Sam Larry, two people who are reportedly key witnesses in the case, were suspiciously absent from the court proceedings.
Despite being summoned to appear, neither was present in court on Wednesday, further fueling public rumour surrounding the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
