Controversial Nigerian artiste Portable has raised alarm over a man allegedly impersonating him at live performances, after videos emerged showing the lookalike performing his songs.
The singer accused the impersonator of collecting payments for shows and urged fans to confront such acts, while cautioning them not to involve him in any physical altercations.
In a post on his social media pages, Portable said that if fans come across someone performing his songs or copying his style, they should “deal with it themselves,” warning that any violent response could result in complaints or petitions.
Underscoring the worth of his brand, he stated, “I collect 10 million plus for my shows,” insisting that no one should profit off his name.
The controversy surfaced after clips of a performer resembling Portable began circulating online, with some events and appearances linked to the impersonator. Fans noted that such acts could affect his earnings and reputation.
Portable further alleged that the impersonator had been paid as much as N250,000 for a show — an amount he dismissed as far below his usual fees. He assured that he would continue to honor genuine bookings but cautioned against fraudulent performances.
Framing his remarks as a defense of his career, Portable added, “If they call me for show I go go o,” urging supporters to help protect his brand rather than expecting him to intervene directly.
Public reactions were divided, with some fans backing Portable’s stance while others advised restraint.
