The controversial socialite, Pretty Mike, was on Thursday arraigned at the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The socialite, whose real name is Mike Nwalie, was among over 100 people arrested on October 26 during a raid at his nightclub, Proxy Lagos.
Following the operation, the court ordered the temporary forfeiture of the nightclub over allegations of “drug storage and distribution”.
During the forfeiture motion, Buhari Abdullahi, counsel for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), described the club as an “instrumentality of crime”.
He also urged the court to halt all activities at the club pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
According to the NDLEA, the nightclub was allegedly used to store a large quantity of controlled substances, including 169 cylinders (384.662kg) of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, and 200 grams of cannabis sativa.
Pretty Mike and the club’s manager were arraigned before Justice Ambrose Alagoa on a three-count charge of conspiracy, illegal possession of hard drugs, and knowingly allowing the use of the club premises for drug-related activities.
They were granted bail in the sum of N50 million each, with two responsible sureties in the same amount.
The case was adjourned to January 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial, while the hearing on the interim forfeiture and suspension of the club’s operations was set for January 28, 2026.
