American rapper Chris Brown has been detained in connection with an alleged attack on a music producer in a London nightclub in 2023.
The 36-year-old American musician was seized by Metropolitan Police officers in the early hours of Thursday at Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel, where he was staying after arriving in the UK by private aircraft. Brown, who is scheduled to start a world tour in three weeks, was detained on charge of grievous bodily harm.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in Mayfair’s Hanover Square.
“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 2am on Thursday, May 15 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” a Met police spokesperson told TheSun UK.
“He has been taken into custody where he remains. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
Abraham Diaw, the music producer who is the alleged victim, claimed Brown attacked him with a bottle at the nightclub.
