Reno Omokri congratulates Wale Ojo for winning AMVCA Best Lead Actor

Social commentator Reno Omokri has praised Nollywood actor Wale Ojo for his outstanding performance at the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), which took place in Lagos on Saturday.

For his role as the lead actor in the Nigerian drama film Breath of Life, Wale Ojo took home the Best Lead Actor award.

To win the prize, Ojo defeated Richard Mofe Damijo (The Black Book), Adedimeji Lateef (Jagun Jagun – The Warrior), Gideon Okeke (Egun), Marc Zinga (Omen), Stan Nze (Afamefuna), and Gabriel Afolayan (This is Lagos).

Reacting, Omokri said no one deserve the award more than Ojo, describing him as “actor par excellence.”

On his X handle, he wrote:

“Congratulations to my doppelganger, Wale Ojo, for his Best Lead Actor win at the tenth Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

“Nobody could deserve this more. An actor par excellence, and a pride to Nigeria. More wins!”

A Tribe Called Judah, Blood Vessel, Over The Bridge, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, The Black Book, and Mami Wata were among the films that Breath of Life defeated to win the best movie prize.

The Best Supporting Actress award went to Genoveva Umeh from Breath of Life, who defeated Joke Silva from Over the Bridge, Fathia Williams from Jagun – The Warrior, Bimbo Akintola from The Black Book, Eliane Umuhire from Omen, Tana Adelana from Ijogbon – Chaos, and Ejiro Onojaife from The Origin: Madam Koi Koi.

Additional awards given to the film include Best Director (BB Sasore) and Best Supporting Actor (Demola Adedoyin).

The event took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites and was hosted by IK Osakioduwa for the tenth time consecutive year. Toke Makinwa, Uti Nwachukwu, and Adams Ibrahim, aka VJ Adams also returned as red carpet hosts.
