Nigerian artist Seun Kuti recently posted his ideas on sex and relationships, prompting a passionate debate on social media.

Seun Kuti made it clear in an Instagram story that having sex should not be seen as a favour but rather as a consensual act between consenting adults.

He explained that some people partake in a shared experience, but only sex workers engage in transactional intercourse.

Kuti emphasised that having sex is a natural, reciprocal act that is similar to early human communication.

He addressed Nigerian women specifically, reiterating that sex is not a favor unless exchanged for compensation, and even then, it’s a valid choice.

“No one gives anyone sex except a prostitute. Sex is a mutual act. Its not a favor, and u didn’t do anything, you just had sex a natural act that cave women and cave men did. Nigerian women, sex isn’t a favor except u are a prostitute and that also isn’t a bad thing,” he stated.

In another story, Seun Kuti opens up on why he is not close with his first daughter.

in a recent interview with Timi Agbaje, he expressed that becoming a father is his greatest achievement, highlighting the joy of raising his daughter.

Seun Kuti who has two daughters from two different mothers, acknowledged that he is not close to his first daughter due to a lack of connection with her mother.

He said:

“The greatest thing I have ever achieved is becoming a father, having my daughter, being with her, and raising her.

“I have two kids but I’m not really close to my other daughter but to have the joy of that is the greatest achievement of my life for sure”.

When asked about the circumstances surrounding his relationship with his first daughter’s mother, Seun Kuti explained that it’s a complicated situation and no family is perfect.
