The renowned Nigerian director Dimeji Ajibola has passed away.
On Sunday, Nigerian director Samuel Olatunji revealed Ajibola’s death on social media.
Olatunji described the deceased as a friend and customer and expressed his sorrow over Ajibola’s passing.
“Dimeji Ajibola was my client and friend. So sad to hear this news. Rest in peace to a great guy! Sad Sunday as the director of Shanty Town passed away,” he wrote.
Details about the circumstances of the film director’s passing are still sketchy.
However, it was reported that he was ill.
Ajibola is celebrated as a highly creative entrepreneur in the entertainment industry.
Filmmaking, virtual worlds, animation, visual effects, interactive digital media, and music were all areas of expertise for him.
He attended VFXLearning for visual effects, Animation Mentor in San Francisco for advanced character animation, and the New York Film Academy for filmmaking and cinematography.
Among the films and television shows that Ajibola has directed are “Shanty Town,” “Slum King,” “Hoodrush,” “Ovy’s Voice,” and “Wura.”
For his efforts, he has also been nominated for and won numerous honours.
His debut directorial movie ‘Hoodrush’ was recognised as Nigeria’s first urban musical film.
The film also earned multiple accolades, including Best Movie at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
