Singer,The Weekend to sue Artistes bearing “Starboy” for copyright infringement
Canadian singer The Weeknd has revealed that he will be suing artistes who attempts to trademark his creative work, “Starboy”.
This includes Nigerian singer Wizkid whose record label bears the same name.
Newsclick Entertainment gathered that the multiple award-winning international singers, wants fans to know that he is the only “Starboy”.
The lawyers of The Weeknd will be taking legal actions on anyone who trademarks “Starboy” which is the singer’s song and album title.
TMZ reported that the lawyers have already filed legal suits against a realtor identified as Eymun Talasazan.
Talasazan was said to have filed to trademark “Starboy” for his own projects but the legal team of the singer’s are not having it.
This is not the first time the singer will be trademarking any of his creative works, first was “Straight Outta Bombton”, “Running Through the 6” and “Starboy”.
Billboard reports that “Starboy” is the Weeknd’s third song to reach number one spot on Billboard top 100 songs, after spending eight weeks on number two.
The song is a collaborative effort of the Canadian singer and Daft Punk.
