Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has sent a forceful message to the movie actors, asking them to fight back against the increasing pressure from some producers.
She attacked producers who want actors to deliver them a million views on a project in a single day on Instagram, calling such demands a symptom of inadequate production preparation.
Kadiri stressed that the popularity of the actors or their capacity to attract immediate attention cannot be the only factors that decide whether a play succeeds or fails.
She asserted that a successful production needs more than just an actor’s face and urged performers to put greater emphasis on the calibre of their work rather than being constrained by unattainable standards.
She also shed light on the nuances of platforms like YouTube, pointing out that many lack an in-depth understanding of how such platforms function.
Kadiri warned actors not to let this ignorance affect their confidence or steal the joy they derive from their work.
The actress further called out producers who are quick to critique others without making any meaningful contributions to the industry by investing in people.
In her words:
“DEAR NOLLYWOOD ACTORS!!! TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR SHOULDER!!!
ANY PRODUCER WHO REQUIRES ONE MILLION VIEWS FROM YOU IN ONE DAY HAS FAILED! A GOOD PRODUCTION REQUIRES MORE THAN YOUR FACE!
ONE MILLION VIEWS IS NOT A STANDARD OF SUCCESS NOR! FAILURE.
SO MUCH Y’ALL DONT KNOW ABOUT YOUTUBE DONT LET THIER IGNORANCE RUB YOU OF YOUR JOΥ!”
The ones who never invest in anyone are the ones with the most NONSENSE to say about others!”
