Nigerian musician Terry G publicly criticised fellow musician Timaya on his Instagram page for supposedly not paying royalties.
The singer of “Akpako Master” voiced his dissatisfaction and disgust with the circumstances without holding back.
Terry G said in a recent social media post that he had been thinking about coming out about the issue, especially after listening to podcasts where musicians talk about their experiences receiving unpaid royalties.
He made it clear that the metaphorical “table will be used for firewood” the day he chooses to voice his ideas, suggesting that he plans to do so in a powerful and audacious way.
Terry G made it clear that he is seeking his rightful 50% producer publishing royalties from Timaya and other artists.
The veteran singer and producer lamented the treatment he has allegedly received from fellow producers, using himself as an example of how greatness is exploited and then discarded.
Terry G wrote;
“Looking at all the podcasts and disclosure artists speaking up, the day I go talk my own, the table will be used for firewood. If you know I produced this song for you,
“I need my 50% producer publishing royalties from Himaya and others. But all the producers out there use me as an example of how they use and dump greatness. But still, I rise.”
