The Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe popularly known as Ayra Starr has spoken on her relationship with colleague Rema.
He was her best friend and the “GOAT,” as she put it.
The ‘Rush’ singer revealed how much Rema inspires her.
Speaking in a recent interview with Munch Music, Starr said:
“Out of all the famous people I know, who would I say is my closest friend? I would say somebody that keeps inspiring me. And he’s such a good friend of mine and a brother.
“I wouldn’t say mentor but he’s somebody that’s doing the same thing I’m doing but at the same time, he has been here before me. And he knows how to move and he keeps inspiring me. It’s Rema.
“Shoutout to Rema. That’s my GOAT. That’s my guy. That’s my friend.”
Recall that, Ayra Starr opened up about her quick rise to fame and the development of her musical career.
With the release of her first EP and full-length album, “19 & Dangerous,” in 2021, Ayra Starr has undergone a tremendous artistic metamorphosis.
She stressed how crucial it is to provide artists the freedom to hone and experiment with their medium.
During her appearance on Visa’s ‘Music Talks’, Ayra Starr discussed her journey, stating:
“My first single blew up in Africa and I was overwhelmed. I got to grow up in front of everyone. We need to allow artistes grow and find themselves. So I don’t even know if this is my final form yet, but I don’t think there’s any such thing as a final form. I don’t think so.
“I think there’s eras and times and you just become better. This is the vibe now with Ayra Starr, it might not be there next year. It might be better, it might be bigger.”
Ayra Starr also shared her thoughts on her global recognition, saying,
“Different people from different parts of the world love my music. My voice is kind of my sound. I bring the Afrobeats to every genre I enter.”
