Music star Wizkid expressed his disdain for Davido on his X account (formerly Twitter), making bold assertions regarding his musical superiority, wealth, and personal style.
The renewed beef began after Davido’s associate, Black Tycoone, mocked Wizkid’s delayed album release, tweeting, “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already.” Wizkid responded with veiled insults, implying Davido’s music was mediocre. Although he didn’t name Davido directly, fans interpreted his posts as a jab.
Wizkid’s tweets were scathing, accusing Davido of being a “spoilt rich child” and mocking his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, known as the “dancing governor” saying, When u see people wey dem papa and family train u go know! U don’t see my uncle dancing online ! 😎❤️He also taunted Davido’s fan base, suggesting that they worship him because of his wealth and not his talent.
‘‘First, you’re not as fly as me, can’t sing or make music like me, can’t dress, you don’t make more money than me, and you don’t even have hoes like me. You don’t know yourself. You’re cheap; you pull up for less than we do! Now fuck off, you spoilt Rich child! That’s all you are! Fuck you and your dad’s money, we got ours! Every nigga around you broke! Your dumb ass lawyer flies with you everywhere dressed like basket mouth lol, our lawyers are too busy for that shit! You kids!’’ his tweet read.
In another tweet, he said, Naija is a place the rich weaponize poverty so u carry all these broke boys in real life and get dem visa so they worship u and not tell u abt yourself. Call u 001 u delusional fuck aye u idiot! The only time u’re 001 is when u’re in your house. U’re not 001 of nothing but instagram followers!
U don’t make money than any body in Nigeria in music! Cheap guy! Everything about u screams cheap!
One fan accused Wizkid of using the rivalry for attention, but Wizkid denied this, stating that he doesn’t “beef wack niggas” and called Davido talentless. There has also been speculation that Wizkid is using the traffic to promote his new music, which is set to drop soon.
When another Davido fan dropped a video defending Davido and captioned it All Facts, Wizkid replied: “U idiot! I turned down Puma cos they could no longer afford to pay me cos I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste u just mentioned! Not jealous ! love em all…With ur dirty ass shirt! Idiot!”
As of the time of publication, Davido has yet to respond to Wizkid’s online tirade, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next development in this ongoing saga.
Both artists rose to fame at approximately the same time and have been massive exports as music acts, but they are known to have been in a Cold War fueled by their fan base, the 30 Billion Gang and Wizkid FC, for over a decade.
Over the years, there have been numerous instances of subtle jabs and outright disses exchanged between them, keeping their feud alive in the public eye.
One of the earliest public spats occurred in 2014 when Davido tweeted about a concert in New York, implying that he had a larger turnout than Wizkid. Wizkid responded with a cryptic tweet, and the back-and-forth continued, much to the delight of their fans. This incident set the tone for what would become a long-standing rivalry.
Both artists have enjoyed immense success in their careers. Wizkid’s collaboration with Drake on the 2016 hit One Dance brought him international recognition, topping charts worldwide. His 2020 album Made in Lagos received critical acclaim and featured the global hit Essence, which further cemented his status as a global superstar.
Davido, too, has had his share of chart-toppers. His 2017 single If became an anthem, followed by hits like Fall, FIA, and Assurance. His 2019 album A Good Time was a commercial success, featuring collaborations with international artists and showcasing his versatility as an artist.
