Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr has expressed admiration and appreciation for Nigerian men.
Speaking in a recent episode of *Way Up with* Angela Yee, Ayra Starr said Nigerian men are similar to New York men, describing them as supportive and very confident.
She, however, added that she still has some reservations about them, noting that “men are still men.”
She said, “Nigerian men love to take care of their women. They are very supportive of their wife or girlfriend.
“They are very very confident, so it is almost the same thing as New York men. But you know, men are men. A man is a man still. It is universal thing.”
The confession comes months after Ayra Starr faced heavy criticism on social media, particularly from some Nigerian men who argued that her online feminist advocacy does not align with her behaviour offline.
Critics pointed to her enthusiastic reaction to meeting Chris Brown and a dance video she posted to a song by Naira Marley, claiming the moments contradicted her perceived feminist image.
