Tiwa Savage set to drop new album

Universal Music Group label artiste, ‘Let Them Know’ singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage is set to drop a new album for her fans.

The body of work is titled ‘Celia’ as disclosed on social media by the 40 year old ‘Attention’ crooner and mum of one.

iwa was born Tiwatope Savage in Isale Eko on February 5th 1980 in Lagos State, Nigeria. Her family relocated to London when she was 11.

Mama Jam Jam as she is sometimes called was a trombone player for her secondary school’s orchestra band. She later earned a degree in accounting from the University of Kent, enrolled at Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in professional music in 2007 and commenced work at The Royal Bank of Scotland.

At 16 Tiwa started doing backup vocals for UK music artist George Michael and other musicians including Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, Ms. Dynamite and in 2009 she performed background vocals on Whitney Houston’s album I Look to You.

Savage in 2006, took part in the UK edition of The X Factor. She made it to the final 24, but became the 12th person to be evicted. In 2009 the songwriter signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, allowing her write for Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia, Monica and Mýa.

Tiwa Savage recorded her first studio album Once Upon a Time in 2010. The album which housed seven singles — “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and “Eminado” was officially released on 3 July 2013.

In 2015, she however dropped her second album R.E.D, an acronym for Romance, Expression and Dance two singles: “My Darlin” and “Standing Ovation”. She went ahead to release her debut EP Sugarcane in 2017.

Savage relocated to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012. In 2019, Universal Music Group announced the signing of Savage to a seven-year publishing and distribution deal.

Tiwa alongside Mr Eazi in July 2019 featured on “Keys to the Kingdom”, a track she co-wrote for Beyoncé’s soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift. “49-99” and Let Them Know are her latest singles.
